Taxi Practice

On the ground, you steer with your feet (rudder pedals), not the yoke.

1-min review

What You'll Do Today

Today you drive the airplane on the ground. Here's the surprise: you steer with your feet, not your hands! The foot pedals turn the nose left and right, and the brakes live on top of those same pedals. You'll follow the yellow line all the way to the runway.

  • Add a little power to start rolling forward
  • Steer with the rudder pedals — left pedal for left, right pedal for right
  • Stop smoothly using the toe brakes
  • Stop at the hold short line before the runway

By the end you'll taxi neatly down the centerline and stop exactly where you should.
