On the Edge
The buffet (shaking) is the airplane telling you it is close to stalling. Listen to what the airplane is saying!
What You'll Do Today
Today the airplane is going to talk to you! When you fly too slowly, it shakes a little and a horn beeps. That is the airplane's way of saying "I'm about to stop flying — add power!" You'll learn to listen and react right away.
- Slow the airplane down until you feel it shake (this is called the buffet)
- Hear the stall warning horn beeping
- Push in full power right away to recover
- Learn that a stall is about the angle of the wing, not just speed
By the end you'll know the airplane's two big warnings and the one thing to do about them: add power and fly away.
