Flying Straight

Four forces keep an airplane in the air: lift, weight, thrust, and drag. In level flight, they are balanced.

1-min review

What You'll Do Today

Today you become the steady hand at the controls. Your job is to fly straight and stay at the same height for two whole minutes — no climbing, no drifting, just smooth, level cruising. You'll learn the secret that holds an airplane up: four invisible forces, all pushing and pulling in balance.

  • Learn the four forces of flight: lift, weight, thrust, and drag
  • Hold a heading using the heading indicator at the bottom of the screen
  • Hold your altitude using the altimeter on the right side
  • Make tiny corrections with the yoke to stay right on track

By the end you'll be able to fly straight and level for two full minutes — the calm, balanced flying that every other maneuver starts from.
