What You'll Do Today

Today you take a tour of your airplane's six most important instruments — the screens and tapes that tell you everything about how you're flying, even with your eyes off the window. By the end you'll be able to point to each one and say what it does.

  • Find the attitude indicator: blue means sky, brown means ground
  • Find the airspeed tape (how fast) and the altimeter (how high)
  • Find the heading indicator (which way you're pointed)
  • Find the vertical speed indicator (climbing or descending) and watch the instruments move as you fly

By the end you'll be able to name all six instruments on the G1000 glass screen and read what each one is telling you.
