What You'll Do Today

Today you make your very first turns! You'll learn how an airplane turns — not with a steering wheel like a car, but by tilting, or "banking," the wings. The airplane always turns toward the lower wing.

  • Gently roll into a shallow bank with the yoke
  • Watch the airplane start turning toward the low wing
  • Roll the wings back level to stop the turn
  • Try to keep your altitude steady all the way through the turn

By the end you'll be able to make smooth, shallow turns to the left and to the right and roll out heading where you want.
