Coming Down

To descend, reduce power and let the nose come down. Gravity is your friend.

1-min review

What You'll Do Today

Today you learn to come down! You'll start a smooth, controlled descent from your cruise altitude by easing off the power and letting the nose settle. Gravity does most of the work — your job is to keep it steady and gentle.

  • Reduce power to start the airplane descending
  • Use pitch to control how fast you come down
  • Keep a steady airspeed all the way down
  • Level off smoothly at a target altitude

By the end you'll be able to make a controlled descent at about 500 feet per minute and level off right where you planned.
