Flaps and Approach
Flaps change the shape of the wing — they let you fly slower and descend steeper for landing.

What You'll Do Today
Today you meet the flaps — panels on the wings that let you fly slower and come down at a steeper angle. You'll add them in stages and feel how each setting changes the airplane as you set up for a landing approach.
- Add 10 degrees of flaps and feel the airplane slow down
- Add 20 degrees for more drag and a steeper descent
- Add 30 degrees (full flaps) for the slowest, steepest approach
- Learn the flap speed limit: the white arc on the airspeed tape
By the end you'll know what each flap setting does and how to fly a slow, steady approach at about 65 knots.
