The Landing
Landing is a controlled collision with the ground — the goal is to make it as gentle as possible.
What You'll Do Today
Today is the big one — your first landing attempt! You'll fly a steady approach, aim for the runway, and learn the gentle pull-back just before the wheels touch, called the flare. The goal is to bring the airplane down as softly as you can.
- Fly a stable approach at the right speed and descent rate
- Look at the far end of the runway, not straight down
- Flare: gently pull back on the yoke just before touchdown
- Keep the airplane straight with the rudder after the wheels touch
By the end you'll have flown a full visual approach and attempted a landing — putting together everything you've learned so far.
