Smooth Touchdown

The flare is the last few seconds before landing — you trade speed for a gentle touchdown.

1-min review

What You'll Do Today

Today is the moment every flight builds toward: the flare and touchdown. After your power-off glide, you'll trade your last bit of speed for a soft, gentle landing on the main wheels.

  • Fly the power-off approach down to short final
  • Begin the flare about 10 to 20 feet above the runway
  • Pull back gently to slow your descent and let the airplane settle
  • Look at the far end of the runway, not straight down

By the end you'll know what a smooth touchdown feels like — wheels kissing the runway just as the airplane runs out of speed.
