Going Up!

To climb, you add power and pitch the nose up. The airplane trades speed for altitude.

1-min review

What You'll Do Today

Today you fly into the sky for the first time! You'll line up on the runway, push in full power, and gently lift off. Then you'll climb up to 4,000 feet and watch the altimeter count your height as you go higher and higher.

  • Line up on the runway centerline
  • Push the throttle all the way in for full takeoff power
  • Pull back gently to lift off the ground
  • Climb at the best climb speed up to 4,000 feet

By the end you'll have flown your first takeoff and climbed to altitude — a huge milestone for any pilot.
